Kory has been involved in music for most of his life. His primary instrument is bass, both upright and electric. He first took up electric bass because he was a fan of Geddy Lee from Rush and John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin.
Kory became interested in the Double Bass when he was in High School. He joined the Calgary Youth Orchestra and immersed himself in classical music. He was accepted to study music at McGill after High School.
After graduating from McGill’s orchestral training program, he moved to Asia. While in Asia he completed an MA in Humanities through California State University. After 15 years in Asia he returned to Canada to live in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
While in Japan, along with doing sound for the bands he played in, he also began recording his own projects. After moving to Nova Scotia, he enrolled in the NSCC Recording Arts program. He graduated at the top of his class in 2013.
He is an engineer at SoundMarket Recording Studios. He runs his own sound system, SoundMarket Live. He also plays bass in a few local groups, including Up Dog, who recorded their debut album at SoundMarket Recording Studios.
He has provided sound for Deep Roots Music Festival. He works for Sound Source Pro Audio every year at a couple of summer music festivals in the Annapolis Valley.
